Why Coaching & Mindfulness?
Work and travel have fueled my interest in understanding how people find success in the global workplace, with its diverse cultures, new technologies, and massive flow of information. As a coach and trainer I have witnessed firsthand how companies and individuals are trapped by limiting beliefs and an overzealous focus on improving weaknesses. That focus does not support excellence, nor is it a pathway to offering your best self to the world.
Joseph Campbell said, "If you follow your bliss, doors will open for you that wouldn't have opened for anyone else.” My rough translation of this idea is:
-
learn to listen deeply for what motivates you, what holds you back and what gives you deep joy.
-
translate your inner wisdom into action (You have to experiment with new behaviors to create change and test how much a new idea resonates with you.)
-
notice where doors and windows open
The challenge for many of us is learning to listen for that inner wisdom. Both coaching and mindfulness offer pathways to deepening self-awareness and connecting with natural genius.
Coaching asks you to be clear about what you want and then the process (questions, reflection, insights + action) supports you in getting there faster than you might on your own.
Meditation and Mindfulness ask you to pause, notice and pay attention. It's a process of slowing down and focusing on being as opposed to doing.
